General Outline of Polices:
- Dance education at OBDS is a serious commitment from September through May. Students shall participate in both semesters of classes, as well as the recital in May 2024.
- Students shall attend class without frequent tardiness or absences. Parents shall drop off
children and return at the end of class. We have designated dates when parents may attend.
- Students shall arrive dressed in proper dance class uniform/attire, have proper dance shoes
and hair fixed appropriately. Students shall not change in the studio.
- Monthly Tuition is set up on auto-draft with a credit/debit card and is due on the 1st of the
month and shall be paid by the 7th of the month. Late fees assessed on the 8th of the month and
again on the 16th of the month. No cash payments for monthly tuition.
- Discounted Annual Tuition is due upon registration.
- The recital fee, costume fees and program & media fee will be processed to the card on file
on the due dates provided unless payment is given 2 days prior to due date.
- Our goal at OBDS is to provide a safe, disciplined environment that instills a passion for the
art of dance. Through the hard work and dedication of both students and teachers, together we
will create the best, most versatile dancers in the New Orleans area.
Attendance:
We take attendance very seriously. Students should arrive dressed in proper dance attire with
hair secured properly.
- Students should be dropped off no more than 10 minutes before class and picked up on time.
- We will not send out students to the street. Please park and stand on the markings in front of
our building. We want all students to enter and exit our facility safely. No exceptions.
- For safety reasons, doors will be locked during class and unlocked when each class is finished.
- If a student is going to be absent or tardy, please email Suzanne@obdsnola.com before the
class begins or call the studio at 504-861-1749.
- After 3 absences or 5 tardies in a semester, we will schedule a meeting to assess the student's
progression in the class.
Attire:
UNIFORMS: Each division will have a dress uniform to wear to the 1st class of every month,
during parent observations and studio rehearsals for the recital.
We sell OBDS solid color leotards, tights and shoes for mini dancers, tiny dancers, combo
dancers, Velcro & buckle style tap shoes, and jazz shoes AT THE STUDIO. We will have
“Uniform Purchase Days” through August. Any other items may be purchased at Carmel’s or
Ennie’s.
ALL students will need a zipped dance bag to keep their things in.
PLEASE PUT NAME ON ALL DANCE ITEMS. No dance shoes should be worn outside.
Tiny Dancers (Ages 2-4 & 4.5-6)
(Monday at 4:30, Tuesday at 4:30, Saturday at 9:00 am)
- Uniform: OBDS ballet pink dance dress, pink or tan tights, pink ballet shoes, tan buckle/snap
(NO ribbons) tap shoes.
- Non-Uniform Week: Any solid color leotard, pink or tan tights, pink ballet shoes, tan
buckle/snap tap shoes (NO ribbons), and optional ballet skirt (black only).
- Hair: Secured ballet bun.
Mini Dancers (Ages 2-3)
(Wednesday at 9:00 am)
- Uniform: OBDS ballet pink dance dress, pink or tan tights, pink ballet shoes, tan buckle/snap
(NO ribbons) tap shoes.
- Non-Uniform Week: Any solid color leotard, pink or tan tights, pink ballet shoes, tan
buckle/snap tap shoes (NO ribbons), and optional ballet skirt (black only).
- Hair: Secured ballet bun.
Combo Ballet, Tap, & Jazz Dancers
(Tuesday at 5:30, Wednesday 5:30)
- Uniform: OBDS violet leotard, pink or tan tights, pink leather or canvas ballet shoes, tan
buckle/snap (NO ribbons) tap shoes, tan slip on jazz shoes.
- Non-Uniform Week: Any solid leotard, pink or tan tights, pink ballet shoes, tan buckle/snap tap
shoes (NO ribbons or laces), and optional ballet skirt/dance shorts (black only).
- Hair: Secured ballet bun.
Thursday Ballet & Tap(Thursday at 4:30)
- Uniform: OBDS class leotard, pink or tan tights, pink leather or canvas ballet shoes, tan oxford
(lace-up) tap shoes, tan slip on jazz shoes.
- Non-Uniform Week: Any dance leotard, pink or tan tights, pink ballet shoes, oxford tap shoes
and optional ballet skirt/dance shorts (black only).
- Hair: Secured ballet bun.
Thursday Jazz(Thursday at 6:00)
- Uniform: OBDS class leotard, tan tights, black dance shorts and tan slip on jazz shoes.
- Non-Uniform Week: Any dance leotard, tan tights with black dance shorts or dance fitted
leggings.
- Hair: Secured ballet bun.
Intermediate & Advanced Dancers (Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Contemporary)
- Uniform: OBDS solid color leotard, appropriate tights and shoes for each technique.
- Non-Uniform Week: Any dance leotard or crop top, pink or black footless tights for ballet,
tan/black tights for jazz, tights are optional for contemporary, optional dance shorts or ballet skirt
(black only).
- Hair: Secured ballet bun.
- Shoes: Canvas ballet shoes that match skin-tone, tan oxford tap shoes, tan slip on jazz shoes,
NO shoes for contemporary (if you wear tights, you will need convertible style).
- **Students may need different dance shoes for recital**
Beginning & Intermediate Contemporary Dancers
(Monday at 5:30, Saturday at 10:00am)
- Uniform: OBDS Solid leotard with black dance shorts or leggings.
- Non-Uniform: Any dance leotard (NO GYM LEOS) or crop top with dance shorts or leggings.
- NO shoes (if you wear tan tights, you will need convertible style).
- Hair: Very neat ponytail, braid or bun.
Musical Theater Dancers
(Wednesday at 4:30)
- Uniform: OBDS black leotard, black leggings or black dance shoes with tan tights and tan jazz
shoes.
- Non-Uniform: Any dance leotard (NO GYM LEOS) or crop top with dance shorts or leggings.
- Hair: Neat ponytail or braid.
- **Students may need different shoes for recital.**
Hip Hop
Wednesday Tiny Hip Hoppers:
- Uniform: OBDS Class Leotard, black leggings or black
dance shorts w/ tan tights and tan slip on jazz shoes.
- Hair: neat ponytail or braid.
Saturday Int. Hip Hop:
- Uniform: Any solid color leotard or crop top, black leggings OR
black dance shorts w/ tan tights, and clean tennis shoes only for studio use.
- Hair: neat ponytail or
braid.
Advanced Hip Hop (Company members only):
- Uniform: Any solid color leotard or crop
top, black leggings/pants and clean tennis shoes for studio use only.
- Hair must be fixed in a neat

Pre-Pointe & Pointe Dancers
